Lead Architect Profile

Equinox Architecture was founded by Timothy Cope, a qualified and registered architect in ACT with over 28+ years of experience working on a broad range of architectural and master planned projects across Australia, South-East Asia, Japan, Pacific, New Zealand and throughout the Middle East.  After a long and successful career in the property sector Timothy returns to fulfill his passion in residential and small-scale architecture.

 

Timothy has a vast client base extending from royalty, heads of state, commonwealth and crown agencies and private sector clients. Timothy is highly attuned to his client’s needs and prides himself on delivering upon his client’s objectives and vision.

 

Timothy Cope is a member of the Australian Institute of Architects and a registered architect with the Australian Capital Territory Architects Board.

Many of the projects he has led have received awards in recognition for their architectural merit. More recently Timothy was a finalist in the Master Builders Awards (2022) and featured in the Australian Institute of Architects (AIA) National Awards (2024) for residential architecture.

 

Tim has led numerous flagship projects across various sectors, including mixed-use developments, conference centers, community facilities, financial institutions, arts spaces, residential projects, master-planned communities, high-rise commercial buildings, and retail developments. Some notable projects include:

  • PK Resort, Bahrain – A US$8.4 billion, 1,100-hectare waterfront master plan on reclaimed land in the Arabian Gulf, featuring islands, infrastructure, retail centers, housing, marinas, and recreational facilities.

  • Durrat Al Bahrain, Bahrain – Design of the North Crescent precinct with 23 high-rise towers as part of the US$6.0 billion, 22 km² waterfront development for Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company and Kuwait Finance House Bahrain (KFH).

  • Global Retail Visual Identity Program, Nissan Motors – Designed and delivered 1,500+ retail outlets globally across 130 countries.

  • National Courthouse Program, New Zealand Ministry of Justice – Oversaw multiple courthouse projects, including new builds and refurbishments in Blenheim, Nelson, and Hastings, New Zealand.

  • Kingston Arts Precinct, Australia – Project advisor for the ACT Government during the concept design phase for the cultural precinct in Canberra, Australia.

  • Birdwood Winery Estate Community Centre, New Zealand – Led the design team for a Civic / Community center for Auckland City Council.

  • Exhibition and Conference Centre, New Zealand – Led the design team for a major exhibition venue for Hutt City Council, Wellington.

  • Administration Building & Town Hall Refurbishment, New Zealand – Project lead for the refurbished key civic buildings for Hutt City Council, Wellington.

 

These projects showcase Tim’s extensive experience in delivering innovative, large-scale developments across a wide range of sectors.
